When you leave your home in the morning, do you lock all of your doors, secure your windows and double-check them?
So often it is easy to forget to lock each of your doors and windows as your ten minutes late, coffee swishing in hand and running out the door.
Burglars target homes that don't have any vehicles parked in front and the lights are off, which means, you're most likely not home. Most of us have full-time jobs, or at least part-time jobs, that keep us from being home. But, that shouldn't be a reason to get anxiety about leaving your possessions while you are busy. There are ways to protect your home, even when you are not there.
- Install a home security system. Having a security system will alarm burglars when they try to break-in and gives you peace of mind as you set your alarm system before leaving each day.
- Lock your doors and windows. Burglars see windows as a great opportunity to sneak in when the doors are locked. You can put wood sticks in your window ledges that stop burglars from opening a window. There are also locks you can purchase and put on windows to prevent people from opening them.
- Shred important paperwork. A great giveaway of your possessions is the trash you throw away. Shred all bills and important paperwork that burglars can find by going through your trash.
- Call Kipper Insurance. If you find yourself in a burglar situation, call the police immediately, and then call Kipper Insurance 760-471-2200.
